Prince Edward Island Ground Transportation

Maritime Bus

The Maritime Bus system provides daily service between the Island's Charlottetown, Summerside and Borden-Carlton, as well as more than 40 locations across the Maritimes, with connections to VIA Rail and central and western Canada. Reservations are required and fare is determined by trip.

Northumberland Ferries

Northumberland Ferries runs two ferries between Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia several times daily from May through December. Offering a 600- and 486-passenger capacity, respectively, the ferries feature viewing decks, seasonal live music and refreshments by Cows Ice Cream. Round trip fare is $18 per passenger and free for children under 13 years old; round trip fare per vehicle is $69, which includes all passenger fare for those in the vehicle.

VIA Rail

VIA Rail offers regional service that connects Moncton, New Brunswick with Maritime Bus service to Prince Edward Island. VIA Rail's Moncton station is open Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 5:45 PM and Thursday from noon to 3:45 PM.

Amtrak

The nearest Amtrak station to Prince Edward Island, the Montreal Amtrak station sits along the Adirondack route, which provides daily service from New York City to Montreal. Visitors traveling to Prince Edward Island can take VIA Rail from the Montreal Amtrak station to Moncton, New Brunswick, and from there take the Maritime Bus to Prince Edward Island.
