Santa Monica, CA Meeting Planning Overview

An iconic SoCal destination perfect for business and leisure travel, Santa Monica features a unique combination of a beachy, relaxed feel with convenient proximity to the hustle and bustle of nearby Los Angeles. This year-round seaside spot is home to modern meeting amenities, extensive public transportation, and group activities perfect for downtime.

Santa Monica is located just eight non-freeway miles north of the Los Angeles International Airport. Commonly called LAX, the airport serves as the seventh busiest airport in the world and third busiest in the United States, linking the greater Los Angeles area to major destinations around the world. Those flying into LAX and heading toward Santa Monica can hop aboard the Big Blue Bus, which provides transit service throughout Santa Monica and to Union Station in Los Angeles. Visitors can also ride the Metro light rail's Expo Line, which runs daily between Santa Monica and Los Angeles.

While Santa Monica does not have its own convention center, it's only 12 miles from the sprawling Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC). Set in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, the LACC hosts more than two million visitors and 350 events each year in its 720,000 square feet of exhibit hall space, 147,000 square feet of meeting room space, 64 column-free meeting rooms, and 299-seat theatre.

While in Santa Monica, groups have their choice of a number of unique venues. Groups can gather at a seaside venue or opt for an entire buyout at the iconic Pacific Park amusement park on the Santa Monica Pier. One favorite option among visitors is the local marine life at the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium. The oceanside Annenberg Community Beach House welcomes group events (as well as plenty of fun at its view deck, beach area, splash pad, and historic pool), while the Museum of Flying serves as an educational venue complete with two dozen aircraft and interactive exhibits.
