Palermo "Falcone and Borsellino" International airport (IATA: PMO, ICAO: LICJ) is located 35 km west of the city of Palermo, along the 'highway A29. It is the third South Italian airport for passenger numbers, while in 2014 and the first half of 2015 it was ranked ninth among the busiest airports in Italy. The structure, named in memory of Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino, has two asphalt runways 3,326 meters long and 2,068 m. The airport can accommodate large airliners such as the Boeing 747 or Boeing 767. The airport is connected by daily flights to major Italian cities and the islands of Lampedusa and Pantelleria. With regard to European cities, there are daily connections from London-Stansted, London-Gatwick, Paris Orly Airport and Brussels-National. In addition, Palermo airport offers intercontinental routes, seasonal or regular, to New York, Tel Aviv, Tunis and occasionally to other destinations.
