Located next to Hong Kong, Shenzhen has rapidlly grown from a small seaside town to one of China’s largest cities. Following the 2018 opening of a new bullet train, which shuttles passengers from Shenzhen to Hong Kong’s downtown Kowloon area in less than 20 minutes, the city has seen a recent boom in tourism and meeting travel. Shenzhen is rich in high-tech industry, tourist attractions, and visitor amenities, including theme parks, soaring skyscrapers, excellent transportation options, city parks, Cantonese cuisine, and plenty of shopping.
Meeting travelers can arrive via Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport, situated about 20 minutes outside the city center. As China’s fifth-largest airport, Shenzhen Bao’an International serves flights to more than 100 domestic and international cities and offers regular shuttle service to and from Shenzhen. Shenzhen itself features a well-connected transit system that offers bus, rail, and subway service.
Located in the city’s Futian District, the massive Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center is the largest single building in Shenzhen, spanning six floors and featuring nine exhibition halls on just its first level. It also offers 25 meeting rooms, a function hall for 3,000 people, and other event space.
