Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong Meeting Planning Overview

In what was once a pirates' lair along a bay in the New Territories area of Hong Kong, the market town of Tsuen Wan sprang up as a result of villages and fishing boats in the area. Surrounded on two sides by hills and woodlands, Tsuen Wan was developed because of the advantages it offered of inexpensive land, labor, and proximity to urban Kowloon. Tsuen Wan event venues are convenient to meeting properties and to the entertainment offerings elsewhere.

Taxis from Hong Kong International Airport to Tsuen Wan, 31 kilometers away, are readily available. Operated by the Mass Transit Railway (MTR), the high-speed Airport Express rail service takes passengers from Hong Kong Station to the central business district in just 23 minutes. The Tsuen Wan Line starts at Central station on Hong Kong Island and runs through western Kowloon to the southwestern New Territories, where it ends at Tsuen Wan station.

Overlooking the waterfront, L'hotel Nina et Convention Center, though removed from central Hong Kong’s tourist crowds, is within easy reach of popular attractions like Disneyland Hong Kong, where conference reception dinners can be hosted. One of the largest venues in Tsuen Wan, the 1,600-room convention center/hotel has a 42-story tower and an 89-story tower, with a glass-bottomed Skybridge on the 41st level connecting the two. Other hotel venues in Tsuen Wan include the 1,026-room Panda Hotel, a conference venue with a ballroom that accommodates 1,250 people in theater-style setting. (The room can be resized for smaller events.) With 240 rooms, Silka Far East is ideal for small meetings; its function room accommodates 15 to 80 people.

Disneyland Hong Kong, Wong Tai Sin Temple, and Man Mo Temple can be done as independent visits or as combined day-tours. Exploring the Tsuen Wan Town Center on foot and blending with the locals in the shopping malls, shops, eateries, and the wet market, with food sampling and a dim sum brunch thrown in, can be offered as a spouse tour for the uninitiated. The area also has a number of museums, including a 200-year-old restored rural walled village.
