Middle School Arts Audition Boot Camp is a free, two-week arts program for New York City Department of Education public school students entering grade 8 in September 2022.This intensive program will return to "in person" camp this summer. The NYCDOE Office of Arts & Special Projects administers this program in collaboration with a group leading cultural organizations: Lincoln Center, Weill Institute of Music at Carnegie Hall, Harlem School of the Arts, NY Philharmonic, Studio in a School and Julliard.
Our goal is to provide equity and access in preparation to screened NYCDOE arts-based high schools and arts programs for up to 300 currently underserved middle school students interested in auditioning for a screened arts high school program.
Middle School Arts Audition Boot camp meets in person, daily, August 1 - 12, 2022 (Monday through Friday) from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m at Lincoln Center - 165 West 65th Street in Manhattan. Admitted students must commit to full participation for the entire program. Attendance is mandatory and unexcused absences will result in dismissal from the program. Students will not be excused for vacations, participation in other art programs, or to participate in any other school-based activity.
Please note that students may be asked to participate in field trips/events that extend beyond camp hours. Parent/Guardians will be notified of these events in advance.
To apply for MS Arts Audition Boot Camp eligible students must meet all of the following criteria:
Admission to the MS Arts Audition Boot Camp is by this online application due May 22, 2022 followed by an online audition due June 3, 2022. After completion of this online application, we will send you an appointment to appear for a live audition or a link to upload your online audition depending on your choice.

2. Prepare your Student Personal Statement as directed in the application instructions.
Auditions will be virtual this year. All eligible students who submit a complete application by the deadline will be invited to audition. Audition information will be e-mailed to students following the application submission. Students must record and upload their audition or digital portfolio by June 3, 2022. Some studios may request a follow up online interview or exercise to demonstrate skill. Students will be notified if this step is necessary.
Please make sure to answer all questions, or the application will not register as complete. Once you complete this application you will receive instructions to upload your audition in an application confirmation email. If your application is incomplete you will not receive instructions to upload your audition. Only completed applications along with audition submissions will be considered for admission to Middle School Arts Audition Boot Camp.
