Thank you for your interest in the Aware in Care Ambassadors Program! On this page you will find a description of the Ambassador program, details around the application process, and our training expectations for selected Ambassadors.
Program Description
A total of 20-30 Aware in Care Ambassadors be invited to be part of the 100 Aware in Care Ambassadors spread across the country. These volunteers will train and work together in their communities to educate others on the Aware in Care campaign and to lay the groundwork for implementing systematic changes in their local hospitals. We encourage all interested people with Parkinson's, current and former care partners, and clinical/fitness professionals to apply.
Selected Ambassadors will be coached to create their own unique goals based on their interests, experiences, and any health/caregiving/professional time constraints. Our philosophy for this program is that the time commitment will ebb and flow as life situations change, and we are flexible and understanding so long as Ambassadors keep us updated on any changes in their availability.
Application Details
The application will ask you questions about your connection to Parkinson's, location and target area, relevant personal/professional background, engagement to date with the Parkinson's Foundation, and demographic details. In total, this includes 22 questions with some additional sub-questions. Each question helps us understand how you would fit into the reach and focus of our returning Aware in Care Ambassadors.
This application will be open through June 24th. Our goal is to make final decisions by July 22nd and to notify all applicants in the last week of July.
Note: This year we are only accepting applications from the United States, including US Territories. We are not currently able to make any adjustments in our training schedule to accommodate the time difference for applicants from Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, but potential Ambassadors from these areas are encouraged to reach out to Courtney at CMalburg@Parkinson.org so that we can discuss possibilities for this year or work towards accommodating the time difference for future trainings.
