Community Health Worker

This course provides the knowledge and skills to become a Community Health Worker (CHW). A CHW can serve as a link between health and social services and the community, as well as, support access to those services. CHWs can be engaged in various activities including outreach, community education, informal counseling, social support and advocacy depending on the needs of the employing facility/organization. The course consists of five weeks of instructor led online learning modules and a 25 hour supervised experience.

The MT Area Health Education Centers (AHECS) provide online course instruction and technical assistance to the host facility. The host facility is responsible for providing a 25 hour supervised experience. Scholarships may be available for facilities/students.
