Gorongosa National Park MHM is a conservation area located in the southern boundary of the Great African Rift Valley in the heart of central Mozambique. This combination of unique features once supported one of the densest wildlife populations in Africa, including charismatic carnivores, herbivores and about 500 species of birds. But numbers of large mammals have been reduced by more than 95 percent and ecosystems have been largely affected by the nearly thirty years of civil war in Mozambique. The Carr / Gorongosa Restoration Project Foundation, a U.S. non-profit organization, in partnership with the Government of Mozambique vows to protect and restore the ecosystem of Gorongosa National Park and develop an ecotourism industry to benefit local communities.

Also known as English Club, it was officially founded in 1988. The legalization of this association by the Company of Mozambique was done with the condition of the association build the headquarters. To do so, they have been offered a land close to the city walls. It was a house made of wood and zinc. In the middle of the last century it was rebuilt in stonework. Beira Clube also tried to obtain a land for the construction of its headquarters, and was prevented from obtaining it, since it was considered only a "recreational society", without any commercial purpose (1931). Already in our days, the building that was completely ruined was reclassified to welcome the branch of the bank "Millenium BIM". The architect responsible was Francisco Ivo.

The original railway station was designed to Beira Railway between 1930 and 1938 but the project was dropped due to the international environment that had already predicted World War II. Subsequently, in 1954, a new attempt was made and the station was inaugurated in 1966. This venture of the Beira Railways was the completion of the local rail link and a reference building in the surrounding urban context. The Mozambican Railways opened a competition among Mozambican plastic artists, in order to the elaboration of panels and sculptures for the decoration of the atrium of the station and exterior facades. The exterior decoration of the station is by Jorge Garizo do Carmo.
