Arts & Culture

World-class museums. Storefront galleries. Live music performances. There are so many arts and cultural attractions near Freehand Chicago. The Chicago Theatre District is a few blocks of the hotel, just across the Chicago River. Majestically restored former Vaudeville theaters, including the Oriental Theatre and Cadillac Palace Theatre, welcome Broadway shows, some previewing in Chicago before their big New York City debut. Chicago's very own Goodman Theatre takes up residence here, too, staging dramatic and comedic plays by renowned and upcoming playwrights. Chicago's legendary Museum Campus - home to the Field Museum, Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum, and Shedd Aquarium - lies a short cab ride away. You can get a more intimate cultural experience right outside our doors in the River North gallery district, where international art dealers display works in every medium. At nearby Millennium Park you can enjoy live outdoor musical performances in the warmer months. Experimental jazz bands, full-blown orchestras, indie rock bands and more play in the company of Cloud Gate and Plensa Fountain, the larger-than-life public art installations crowning the Park. In the cooler months, you can still catch performances inside the Harris Theater.
