The Westin Great Southern Columbus

Designed by HNTB and MKSK, the Crew broke ground on Lower.com Field on October 10, 2019, and held its ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 29, 2021. Lower.com Field debuted on July 3, 2021, and is home to Major League Soccer’s Columbus Crew and various events throughout the year. In addition to the Black & Gold’s matches, the stadium and its grass surface has hosted the U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Teams, the Big Ten Women’s Soccer Conference Championships, Ohio High School Athletic Association championship tournaments for multiple sports, and more.

In the hip Brewery District, craft beer bars and music venues occupy converted Victorian breweries. The area’s lively dining scene encompasses gastropubs, tapas spots, and farm-to-table restaurants. Shadowbox Live stages experimental theater, comedy, and dance. Developed on industrial wasteland, Scioto Audubon Metro Park is a riverside green space with trails, a climbing wall, and birdlife such as peregrine falcons.

The Ohio Expo Center, also known as the Ohio State Fairgrounds, is a 360-acre complex in Columbus, Ohio, featuring 20 buildings and over one million square feet of event space. It hosts various events, including the annual Ohio State Fair, sporting events, consumer shows, and more.

Ohio State's roots go back to 1870, when the Ohio General Assembly established the Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College. The new college was made possible through the provisions of the Land-Grant Act, signed by President Lincoln on July 2, 1862. This legislation revolutionized the nation's approach to higher education, bringing a college degree within reach of all high school graduates. In 1878, the college's name was changed to The Ohio State University. In most years before 1968, Ohio State’s arts and sciences programs were organized within a College of Arts and Sciences. In 1968, the college divided into five colleges: Arts; Biological Sciences; Humanities; Mathematical and Physical Sciences; and Social and Behavioral Sciences. In 2010, the College of Arts and Sciences was reunified by a unanimous vote of the university’s Board of Trustees, reincorporating the five legacy colleges and defining the academic heart of Ohio State. Recombining the arts and sciences has resulted in the creation of one of the most powerful intellectual platforms in the world. In partnership with Ohio State’s professional and health science colleges, we are a leader in fostering research, scholarship, creative activity and teaching in basic disciplines and interdisciplinary programs in the performing and visual arts, humanities, and social, biological, natural and mathematical sciences, not only for the university but for the nation.

Connected to the Westin Columbus this is the oldest surviving theatre in central Ohio and one of the oldest in the state. The Southern Theatre opened in 1896 as part of a performance space and hotel complex on the corner of High and Main Streets. The Southern was designed for theatrical touring productions and later accommodated silent films, vaudeville, first- and second-run motion pictures, dance, country music reviews, and community events.

German Village is a historic neighborhood just south of downtown Columbus, Ohio. Initially platted in 1814 in Columbus's South End, the German Village area primarily developed between 1840 and 1914. It was settled largely by German immigrants in the mid 1800s. German descendants at one time comprised as much as a third of the population of the entire city of Columbus.
