John Wayne Airport/ Orange County Airport/ Santa Ana Airport (SNA)

1 mi. away
john Wayne Airport (SNA) is owned and operated by the County of Orange. It is the only commercial airport and one of two general aviation airports in the County and is located approximately 35 miles south of Los Angeles, between the cities of Costa Mesa, Irvine and Newport Beach. The Airport spans 500 acres and two runways serve commercial and private aircraft: a 5,700-foot main runway and a 2,887-foot general aviation runway. Ten commercial, two commuter and two all-cargo airlines operate at John Wayne Airport. The Airport serves almost 9 million passengers and handles almost 16,000 tons of cargo each year. Approximately 600 general aviation aircraft are based at the Airport and are supported by facilities offering aircraft fueling, hangar space, maintenance services, aircraft sales, charter flights and flight instruction. While security and public safety are our top priorities, we strive to provide travelers with an attractive and efficient airport experience on their journey through John Wayne Airport.

Segerstrom Center for the Arts

2 mi. away
Segerstrom Center for the Arts is unique as both an acclaimed arts institution and as a multi-disciplinary cultural campus. It is committed to supporting artistic excellence on all of its stages, offering unsurpassed experiences, and engaging the entire community in new and exciting ways through the unique power of live performance and a diverse array of inspiring programs. Segerstrom Center for the Arts, originally named the Orange County Performing Arts Center, can trace its roots back to the late 1960s, when a dedicated group of community leaders decided Orange County should have its own world-class performing arts venue. Their vision became reality in September 1986 with the opening of the Orange County Performing Arts Center. Using the same determination, dedication and generosity that allowed the Center to be built entirely through private funding, the Center achieved consistent artistic success, establishing itself as a valuable cultural resource for the entire community. Its international dance series earned the Center a reputation as one of the leading presenters of dance in the country. The Center became a favorite stop for national tours of award-winning musicals from Broadway. Its annual music series brought the world's greatest classical, jazz and cabaret artists to Orange County. And its innovative arts education programs were lauded by educators and school districts throughout California and beyond.

South Coast Plaza

2 mi. away
South Coast Plaza is an upscale-luxury shopping center in Costa Mesa, California, USA, in Orange County. The largest mall in California, its sales of over 1.5 billion are highest in the United States. Its 250 retailers represent the highest concentration of design fashion retail in the U.S, with the second highest sales-volume in California. Many ultra-luxury brands, which have very few boutiques nationwide, have chosen South Coast Plaza as one of their few (and for some brands, their only) store locations. Zara made its debut in the California market opening their first California store in South Coast Plaza in 2004.[2] In 2005, French luxury design house Chloé opted to open their second United States boutique at South Coast Plaza. As of Fall 2008, this is still the only southern California location, with Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills notably absent. Watch Manufacturer Rolex opened their flagship U.S. location at South Coast Plaza. Many larger luxury brand stores gather here as well, with some, such as Harry Winston, Tiffany's, Cartier, Calypso Christiane Celle, Montblanc, Rolex, Louis Vuitton, Versace, Prada, Dior, Valentino, Chanel, Bottega Veneta, Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci, Hermès, Christian Louboutin, Barneys New York Co-Op, and Nordstrom reporting their location at South Coast as having the highest sales in the United States.[citation needed] The shopping center also features restaurants such as Lawry's Carvery, Charlie Palmer at Bloomingdales, and Vie De France as opposed to a food court. Additionally, features such as valet parking, concierge services, access lounge and even courtesy umbrellas or hot beverage service continue to highlight the upscale nature of the mall. Since 2007, South Coast Plaza has held "Fashion Plates", an annual 10-day Restaurant Week-like promotion of its high-end restaurants at discounted rates.

Orange County Fairgrounds

2 mi. away
Shortly after Orange County was created in 1889, the Orange County Community Fair Corporation was formed. This group put on a small fair in 1890 that included a horse race and a few exhibits in Santa Ana. In 1894, another group, the Orange County Fair Association, Inc., took over the organization of the Fair. The first Orange County Fairs were primarily livestock exhibitions and horse races. At the turn of the century, a "carnival of products" was added and the Fair became an annual event. In ensuing years, the Fair was held in Santa Ana, but after World War I it was moved to Huntington Beach for two years and then back to temporary grounds on East Fruit Street in Santa Ana. In 1916, the Fair was taken over by the newly organized Orange County Farm Bureau. The first OC Fair Board was elected in 1925 and the Fair relocated to Anaheim, across the street from the Orange County Hospital. In 1925, a rodeo and carnival were added to the Fair. After World War II, the state formed the 32nd District Agricultural Association and made it responsible for the Fair. The state then purchased land occupied by the Santa Ana Army Air Base and some of it was earmarked for a new fairground. The Fair was first held at the new site in 1949 and it soon was designated as the permanent Fairgrounds. In 1953, the City of Costa Mesa was incorporated - the new city included the Fair's location. From 1949 to the present, the OC Fair has grown from a small, community, five-day celebration to a 23-day festival that is one of Orange County's most eagerly awaited annual events.
