Bruhl's Terrace

Historical landmark
Referred to by Goethe as the “Balcony of Europe”, Brühl’s Terrace offers a sensational view of the Neustadt and the Elbe River. The terrace was created in the 18th century as a private pleasure garden for Earl Brühl, and includes a special historical place: the spot where Johann F. Böttger invented the world-famous Meißen porcelain in 1708.

The Church of our Lady

Historical landmark
5 minutes away
After its destruction in 1945, the most extravagant Protestant church in Germany was, for a long time, a memorial of the Second World War. However, since October 2005, it has shined with new splendour on one of Europe’s most beautiful squares – the Neumarkt.

The Royal Castle

Historical landmark
1 minute away
Since being constructed in the 15th century, the Royal Palace has undergone many changes. After sumptuous restoration work, today it is once again possible to marvel at several treasures at the palace. Visitors can liger through the gorgeous chambers of August the Strong in the Green Vault.

Zwinger Palace

Historical landmark
1 minute away
Originally designed as an orangery for royal celebrations of August the Strong, today the Zwinger serves as a venue for exhibitions, festivals and other events.

Semper Opera House

Historical landmark
3 minutes away
Tradition and continuous restoration are always part of the programme for the Saxony state opera, and the opera continues the traditions of great Italian opera as well. After its destruction, the opera house was elaborately reconstructed and reopened in 1985, complete with its famous foyer and the original frontage.
