About us

Developed as one of the finest hotel properties in Bangkok, its riverside location inspired the W-shaped design capitalizing on the uninterrupted panoramic views from every room and adding a distinctive architectural statement to the Bangkok skyline. The Peninsula Bangkok offers commanding river views together with city views, luxurious comfort, sophisticated facilities, extraordinary dining options and the legendary Peninsula service. LOCATION On the banks of the scenic Chao Phraya River in Thonburi, close to the Sathorn Bridge and adjacent to the Saphan Taksin BTS Station, The Peninsula Bangkok is within easy access of the business and shopping districts of the city. It is also close to several of the city’s famous attractions and just 50 minutes from Suvarnabhumi Airport. ACCOMMODATION 367 river view rooms including 61 one-bedroom suite and five Themed Suites. HOTEL ACCESS Bangkok is served by two airports. Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) serves all international flights and the majority of domestic flights to and from Bangkok. Don Muang Airport (DMK) now serves domestic flights only, after being replaced by the new Suvarnabhumi Airport in 2006. Both airports are located approximately 45 minutes from the city and are primarily serviced by limousines and taxis. The one-way fare from the airport to the city is approximately THB 500 and highway toll charges are additional. Due to the city’s unpredictable traffic, the most pleasant form of transport is by hotel limousine. In addition to escaping the heat in blissful air-conditioned comfort, the hotel’s airport service manager personally escorts guests on arrival or departure. Advance reservation is highly recommended. The two retail complexes of ICONSIAM – ICONSIAM and ICONLUXE – are closely associated with cultural values and beliefs tied to the Chao Phraya River, including inspirations from ‘krathong’ and ‘baisri’. The ICONSIAM building is a highly modern building with its architectural design inspired by the way a krathong is folded, translating traditional Thai design signatures to modern abstract interpretations. The ICONLUXE complex resembles three glasses krathongs with the façade stretching to 300 metres along the river. A special glass is used to create vertical pleats all over the complex setting a new precedent. The design is inspired by a traditional Thai dress with a pleated shawl that wraps the most valuable part of the project as ICONLUXE represents the ultimate of ICONSIAM’s elegance.

Bangkok’s Chinatown, Thailand’s largest Chinese community, is commonly known among Thais as Yaowarat, according to the name of the road where it is located. The Chinese community dominated trades between Siam (ancient Thailand) and China since the reign of King Rama I, centered around Ratchawong Pier, while the construction of Yaowarat Road hadn’t begun until 1891 during the reign of King Rama V. Today, Yaowarat is widely known as the kingdom’s largest center of gold trade and a great foodie destination.

Open 24 hours, it’s busiest in the early morning when the delivery trucks arrive from the provinces. It’s not just flowers you’ll find here. Discover greater galangal, a type of ginger that gives the famous Thai soup tom kha gai its unique flavour. The expansive herb, spice and dried goods market is right next door!
