A jewel of Art Nouveau architecture, the Bellevue Palace is situated in the heart of the UNESCO world heritage city Berne next to the Federal Parliament. The Bellevue Palace is the official guest house of the Swiss Confederation. Its location and history are as unique as it's panoramic ""belle vue"" of the Bernese Alps and River Aare. Built in 1912, the Bellevue Palace has hosted heads of states and dignitaries from around the world for nearly a century. Its guests have included royalty, history's most eminent international statesmen and leading figures from the world of sport and entertainment. Traditional style with all the modern comforts: that’s the Bellevue Palace's philosophy of hospitality. Sparkling chandeliers and gilt combine with high-tech infrastructure for unsurpassed pleasure and comfort. Enjoy the exclusive, luxurious atmosphere and splendour of the Grand Hotel. By car Travelling by car and coming from Basel/Zurich, head for Interlaken/Thun and take the Bern Ostring exit. Follow signs for Zentrum, then Casino and turn into Jungfraustrasse. Cross the Kirchenfeldbrücke bridge towards Casinoplatz. Turn into Amthausgasse. Go around Bundesplatz into Kochergasse. You will come directly to the BELLEVUE PALACE hotel. The Hotel offers recharging points for electric vehicles. By train If you come by train, after arriving at Bern station, take a 5-minute walk or tram line 6, 7, 8 or 9 to Zytglogge. Due to its for the most part unchanged and intact medieval city structure, stately sandstone buildings and historical towers, Bern was delcared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. One of 11 sites in Switzerland. With its 6 km of arcades, Bern has one of Europe's longest covered shopping promenades. Well over 100 fountains with drinkable water adorn Bern. In the old town eleven of these still bear the original statues with their eye-catching figures. UNESCO guided tours can be organized by the local tourist office.
