Located in the Cliff of Guia Coast in Cascais, the “Casa da Guia” is a splendid space by the sea. The “Casa da Guia” is inserted into a property of 2 hectares which extends to the Guia Lighthouse and which belonged to the Counts of Alcáçovas that used this area as summer house. Seizing this fable condition that only this site offers, the prestigious architect Claudio Wanderley has recovered this 19th century Palace and created a set of complementary infrastructures, with the aim of achieving an area truly different from all others and thereby become a reference of Cascais. Casa da Guia is a place that we really recommend everyone to visit.

Sintra National Palace
Sintra National Palace
Museum

The Sintra National Palace is the only surviving Royal Palace from the Middle Ages in Portugal. It is believed that it was built on the former Moorish residence and that it always was a palace since the beginning of the Monarchy. The main works were performed by D. João I that rebuilt the palace and by D. Manuel that added the Manueline Wing. The Palace however, didn’t stop to expand as it can be proved by the great room of the Swan, where we can find the portraits of Catarina de Bragança, D. Charles II of England and D. Pedro II; or the Coat-of-Arms Room whose dome shows the King Manuel’s arms, his son’s and also the arms of 72 portuguese nobility families. In this room the walls date back to the XVIII century, a work of the Lisbon glazed tiles Great Master Cycle of that time.
