The Burren Perfumery ~ Make your very own organic perfume and moisturisers
The Burren Perfumery ~ Make your very own organic perfume and moisturisers
Recreation
40 mins
Learn how to make your very own organic moisturisers or perfumes! Ideal for the ladies. Can come on property to our hotel for larger group or visit the Perfumerys Herbal Balms Our herbal balms are a blend of fine oils and rich organic beeswax. The beeswax is gently melted in a double boiler, using just enough heat to liquify it. The oils are then heated and blended into the wax to create a very rich balm particularly suited to relieving dry skin problems. Creams & Lotions Face, body and hand creams are all essentially made in the same way: they are a selection of oils chosen for their particular properties and then blended with distilled water to create a light emulsion in the same way that one makes mayonnaise in the kitchen. Lighter and finer oils are used for face creams and sensitive areas; richer oils for hand and body. A lotion is like a cream made with a higher proportion of water, making it lighter and more appropriate for frequent use. Certified Organic Our range of creams and balms are certified as organic by the UK Soil Association. That is, the ingredients used in our creams, the process by which they are made, the packaging they are presented in, and the production standards of the business all conform to the high standards of the Soil Association. We are allowed to use the word 'organic' on our packaging and to carry the Soil Associate logo as an assurance of their quality. Tea Rooms Relax in the rose-covered Tea Rooms, which serve a mouth watering selection of organic cakes, scones and pies. Homemade soups with freshly baked bread, selections of local cheeses and salads all made with organic vegetables The Burren Perfumery Organic Herb Garden was planted in 1999. Our intention is to provide our visitors with examples of the native herbs and information on their traditional uses.

Ennis is the capital of Co. Clare, a picturesque and historic market town taking it’s name from “Inis” which is the Irish name for island. The town dates back to the 11th Century and was formed between two streams on the river Fergus when the O’Briens, Kings of Thomond, invited the Franciscans to establish a settlement within their domain in 1240. Ennis and County Clare are world famous as the home of Traditional Irish Music with year round music festivals and trad sessions throughout the town and county. The town’s history along with modern influences represents a pleasant blend of the historic past and active present. It’s narrow bustling streets and lanes give character and ambiance to the town confirming that it is indeed somewhere very special.
