Edison & Ford Winter Estates

Historical landmark
Visitors to the Edison & Ford Winter Estates in Fort Myers will enjoy 20 acres of historical buildings, historic gardens, the Edison Botanic Research Lab and the Edison Ford Museum. The newly restored buildings include the Edison Main House, Guest House, and Caretaker’s House and the Ford House. The 1929 historic landscape is throughout the property including the award winning Moonlight Garden. The Edison Ford Museum has hundreds of inventions, artifacts and special exhibits. In addition to providing the opportunity to explore the winter retreats of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford, the site offers opportunities for the public to enjoy its park like environment for special events, weddings, corporate functions and meetings, exhibits and ongoing education programming. Throughout the year, this National Register Historic Site, Florida Historic Landmark and Winner of the National Trust for Historic Preservation Restoration Award offers visitors of all ages a chance to step back into “old Florida” and the opportunity to learn more about the world through unique historical, scientific and cultural experiences. In 2014 the Edison Botanic Research Laboratory was designated as a National Historic Chemical Landmark by the American Chemical Society. Open Daily 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. Last Guided Tour starts at 4:00 pm. Self-guided audio tours available in English, German, French, and Spanish. Maps available in English, German, French and Spanish. German language historian-led tours are also available every Wednesday at 10:30am.

Celebrate with us and take part in our wide array of dance, theater, music performances, film and art exhibitions, as well as guest lectures, workshops and educational arts programs, a truly multidisciplinary cultural experience in the historic River District in Downtown Fort Myers! Reveal your passion for enriching artistic encounters at our historic architectural gem. We welcome Chico’s as this season’s new Venue Sponsor! With captivating live performances in classical, jazz, world, and rock music and cutting-edge theatre in the Capital Gallery, the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center provides unique entertainment throughout the year. Delight in paintings, sculptures and conceptual art exhibitions from local and international artists in the Grand Atrium plus independent film screenings. In addition to gallery exhibits, live performances, and film, the center hosts annual special events to benefit the Art Center and other area charities. With your patronage and contributions we can continue to provide premiere art events to Southwest Florida and its visitors. Lee Health Sports Complex

The Twins will be celebrating their 30th anniversary of Spring Training baseball in Lee County this year. The Lee Health Sports Complex is home to Hammond Stadium, five additional playing fields as well as the Twins Player Development Academy. It is also the home to two Twins' minor league affiliates, housing both the Ft. Myers Mighty Mussels of the Single-A Florida State League and the Rookie level Florida Complex League Twins. In addition, the complex features four state-of-the-art softball fields and annually hosts various other games and tournaments, bringing thousands of additional teams and tourists to Lee County each year. The main stadium was renamed Bill Hammond Stadium late in the 1994 spring season in honor of the Deputy County Manager who was instrumental in getting the complex built for the Twins. In November 2023, the entire complex was renamed the Lee Health Sports Complex as the Twins and Lee Health teamed up for a long-term partnership to create an extensive, long-lasting and positive impact on Southwest Florida.

Downtown Music Walk

The River District comes alive every month with live music on 3rd Friday in the downtown Fort Myers River District. Over a dozen participating venues feature music by local and regional talent. Restaurants, bars, art galleries, and shops will showcase a wide range of music during Music Walk. From jazz and blues to rock, drums and much more. Each month will brings great music and new energy to the historic streets of downtown Fort Myers. If you plan on spending the night we recommend booking your hotel room in advance. The event will brings out thousands of music and art lovers to the River District. Organized by the River District Alliance who also manage Fort Myers Art Walk and many other downtown events. Music Walk was conceived as a sister event to the extremely popular first Friday Art Walk which brings out over 2,000 people during off-peak months!
