About us

The Museum of World Culture is located at the event strip of Göteborg, close to the Universeum science centre and Liseberg amusement park. Modern, attractive and appealing, the structure is designed to promote spontaneous encounters with new ideas, experiences and people. The heart of the building is the wide staircase on which people can meet, talk, have a cup of coffee or just hang out. Adjacent to the staircase are the café, restaurant and gift shop. Five halls feature temporary exhibitions. The first thing that catches your eye on entering the museum is the broad, 20 metre high oak staircase. The area lends itself well to a variety of activities, from mingling to performances before a standing or seated audience. Above the staircase is a four-storey glass atrium that opens to the sky, allowing contact with nature and the environment. Light or darkness from outdoors changes the character of the room. The museum has four seminar rooms, one auditorium and of course the monumental stair, the museums core. There are also five different kinds of galleries. It's possible to lease parts of the museum, whether its open or not.
