About us

Refined yet playful, hand-crafted yet modern, the 350-room Moxy Chelsea reimagines the urban jungle, blending botanically-inspired design with a touch of romance—the Flower District’s secret garden. Rising 35 stories high into the New York City skyline, this micro-room, macro-amenity lifestyle hotel packs in all the bells and whistles with none of the price tag. Moxy Chelsea marks the second collaboration between Yabu Pushelberg and Rockwell Group, two of the industry’s most admired design firms and the team behind the buzzworthy Moxy Times Square. In a nod to the foliage-strewn streets of the Flower Market, the architecture juxtaposes an industrial façade with a glass atrium revealing the vertical gardens within. On the ground floor, next to the overgrown Starbright Floral Design Residency which doubles as the hotel’s entrance, is Café d’Avignon Popup, an all-day bakery offering a selection of coffees and pastries. As the sun sets, the street-level space transforms into Moxy Afterdark, serving dinner entrées, cocktails, wines and beers. The second-floor lobby blends numerous live/work/play spaces designed to transform over the course of the day, including The Lobby Bar, a bar and lounge offering a modern twist on traditional bar bites and playful cocktails; a hidden made-for-Moxy bocce table; a co-working lounge; a lushly planted Conservatory; and meeting studios that morph seamlessly from workplace to social space. Flooded with natural light thanks to floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall windows, the hotel’s bedrooms are filled with whimsical details, while reflecting a careful consideration of space and functionality. Topping off the hotel is The Fleur Room, a glass-enclosed rooftop lounge with expansive 360-degree views that stretch from the Statue of Liberty to the Empire State Building. At the touch of a button, a retractable window wall transforms the lounge into an alfresco sky veranda. LOCATION: ● Moxy Chelsea brings a fresh vibrancy to the historic New York Flower District in Chelsea, where culture, commerce, and greenery converge. ● Chelsea is one of Manhattan’s most dynamic neighborhoods, a historic district that’s home to the High Line and Chelsea Market. Minutes to Hudson Yards, Flatiron and Meatpacking Districts.

Exceptional architecture and plant design The High Line design is a collaboration between James Corner Field Operations (Project Lead), Diller Scofidio + Renfro, and Piet Oudolf. THE STRUCTURE Converting each section of the High Line from an out-of-use railroad trestle to a public landscape entailed not only years of planning, community input, and work by some of the city's most inventive designers, but also more than two years of construction per section. PLANTING DESIGN The High Line's planting design is inspired by the self-seeded landscape that grew on the out-of-use elevated rail tracks during the 25 years after trains stopped running. The species of perennials, grasses, shrubs and trees were chosen for their hardiness, sustainability, and textural and color variation, with a focus on native species. Many of the species that originally grew on the High Line's rail bed are incorporated into the park's landscape.
