The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Portland is located on the thriving East side of the Portland Metro area and just blocks from the Oregon Convention Center and Moda Center. The hotel has been incorporating sustainable business practices since 2003 and has earned local and national awards for making significant progress in reducing carbon emissions while maintaining a high standard of service and warm hospitality. The hotel continues to look for ways to offer Green Meeting options to meeting planners learning to navigate the ever changing world of green meetings. The south tower guestrooms, public spaces, business center, and fitness center present a fresh, contemporary style. The hotel offers 17 of the most luxurious suites in the city and can accommodate group room blocks from 10 to 400 and meeting space large enough to accommodate up to 1000 attendees. Surrounding hotels offer convenient overflow options. The hotel is located directly on the MAX Light rail line. Getting around to Portland’s top attractions is both affordable and easy. Also within walking distance, guests can enjoy world class entertainment, shopping and dining. With Doubletree’s online support tools, meeting planners can book meetings online through e-Events and manage room’s blocks with Guest List Manager). You can learn more about us by viewing our annual Sustainability Report on our website, but here are a few of the steps we've taken so far: -Reduced overall waste disposal by 65% since 1996 -Diverted kitchen waste into compost at an average rate of 17 tons per month -Employee paper-saving program has reduced office paper purchasing by 20% annually -Retrofits have reduced water usage by 15% -Total energy consumption has been brought down by 32% -Employee mass transit subsidies have saved 9,500 gallons of gasoline per year, since 1999 -Established property-wide recycling program including containers, office products, cooking oil, and fluorescent light bulbs -Implemented a comprehensive Environmental Purchasing Policy -Offset 25% of its electricity use by purchasing 1,500,000 kilowatt hours of electricity annually from renewable energy sources such as wind, geothermal and biomass -Purchase 65% of our food products from within a 500-mile region -100% non smoking hotel We are actively working on reducing our carbon footprint, through more efficient operations, purchasing renewable power, and by providing our guests with hybrid car parking discounts and a program to help our guests offset the amount of carbon dioxide produced through traveling and staying at our property. Yes, Hilton is committed to reducing waste across our portfolio. All of our hotels were required to remove plastic straws, stir sticks and cocktail picks in 2019, and we are currently transitioning from individual bath toiletries to full-size dispensers.
