Opened in 1886, the original San Marco Hotel was an accommodation icon on the east coast. The San Marco hotel hosted explorers, artists, politicians, musicians and more. Its saga ended abruptly in 1898 due to a disastrous fire. However, its legacy lives on through the architecture and design incorporated into the new Renaissance St Augustine Historic Downtown Hotel.
