Traverse City may be the “Cherry Capital of the World,” but the same water-cradled slopes that make this a perfect place for fruit orchards are now producing some of the best wines in the country. The Leelanau and Old Mission peninsulas are dotted with vineyards and wineries -- many in awe-inspiring hilltop settings that make them attractions in their own right.

With one right here at our Park Place Hotel! Michigan has more lighthouses than any other state in the US, and the Traverse City area has several of them! Thanks to its history as a major port and its location on Grand Traverse Bay near the once-bustling Manitou Passage, Traverse City is a convenient base for exploring five historic lighthouses: Mission Point, Grand Traverse, South Manitou, North Manitou, and Point Betsie. Most of these lighthouse properties are open for outdoor exploration, but due to COVID19 social distancing, tours and museums are closed. Please call ahead for details.
