About us
Sweetgrass at Thunderbasin, comprising of nearly 6,000 acres of the Western Black Hills is located 45 miles Northeast of Gillette, Wyoming. It's surrounded by 40,000 acres of national and state forest service land. Amenities include a 7,800 sq. ft. 5-star lodge with three master suites, and a historic wild west bar. Five well-appointed 1,600 sq. ft. cabins which accommodate 18 individuals or couples in private rooms. Also on the property: the Covey Conference Center with state-of-the-art meeting facilities, dining room, wine cellar, and deck with breathtaking views of the black hills, a 3,000 sq. ft. Rendezvous event center with an 1800s era antique bar, retail store and commercial kitchen, the Sweetgrass Sanctuary and Spa with sauna, cold plunge, hot tub and massage rooms, and a 1910 Birdsall Chuckwagon for an authentic Western dinner experience.

Cancellation Policy
For your convenience, when cancelling your reservation, you may be eligible for a refund or you may be able to RESCHEDULE your reservation with applicable fees imposed within one year of your original reservation date. Cancellations received 6 months or more prior to arrival, may be rescheduled without penalty, or refunded (minus credit card processing fees if payment was made with a card). Cancellations received 90 days or less prior to arrival date forfeit deposits paid, or your visit may be rescheduled with a 15% rescheduling fee. “No-Shows” or cancellations received 30 days or less prior to the arrival have a 100% per person cancellation fee. You may be able reschedule within the same calendar year (space permitting) with a 25% rescheduling fee.

Sweetgrass is available in the Spring for Corporate Retreats, Board Meetings, Family Reunions, or Planner-driven Special Events/Weddings. In the Fall, Sweetgrass operates a licensed preserve for upland hunting with four distinct hunting areas, offering unique wild topography comparable with iconic national park scenery. Designed with a variety in mind, you can expect to enjoy unique walk-up hunts mixed with driven-style shooting opportunities along the way, and a once-in-a-lifetime western experience.
