The Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum, newly re-opened in expanded quarters adjacent to the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum, houses one of the finest collections of American folk art in the country. Since colonial times, untrained artists and craftspeople working outside the mainstream of academic art have recorded aspects of everyday life, making novel and effective use of whatever media were at hand. Bold colors, simplified shapes, imaginative surface patterns, and the artist's own originality can be seen in the variety of paintings, carvings, toys, needlework, and other treasures they created. The Folk Art Museum offers changing exhibitions of American folk art from its permanent holdings and also sponsors major loan shows. (Enter the museum through the Public Hospital of 1773 on Francis Street between Nassau and South Henry streets. Admission is included in Colonial Williamsburg admission pass.)

As the mid-Atlantic’s largest water park, Water Country USA offers 43 acres of pools, children’s play areas, lazy rivers and water rides. Your family will have a blast at “Rock ‘n’ Roll Island,” featuring nearly 600 feet of body slides, a 700-foot lazy river and a 9,000-square-foot pool. Rock ‘n’ Roll Island celebrates the music of the 1950s and ‘60s – the era that all of Water Country USA is themed after. Or take a “cruise” down Hubba Hubba Highway, Water Country USA’s radical river adventure. For guests who want to relax, the park has about 1,500 free lounge chairs and 16 private cabanas for rent. Vanish Point: Guests are in for the slide of their lives at Water Country USA’s epic new drop slide, Vanish Point™. Inspired by the point on a wave where water and gravity form a perfect partnership, this summit supplies two wicked-wet ways to drop out of sight. The crest of this 75-foot tower challenges guests with two wave paths. They can step into a skybox and take a plunge when the floor drops out beneath their feet, or they can get horizontal on a 300-foot speed slide that drops them straight down as soon as they enter. Either way, its pure liquid adrenaline.
