Thank you for your interest in learning about the Seacoast Science Center, a non-profit marine science education organization located on the New Hampshire coast. Since 1992 the Center's programs and exhibits have informed people, from toddlers to grandparents, about why a healthy ocean is important. Our Mission Ocean education is what we do. We educate to motivate. We want everyone to recognize and understand that what we do every day has an impact on the health of the ocean and that ocean health impacts our daily lives. A healthy ocean drives our quality of life today and will for future generations.

Harbor Cruise On our fully narrated Harbor Cruise we’ll take you through nearly 400 years of local and American history, from the settlement of the region in 1623 to Portsmouth Harbor’s modern day role in the economy and defense of our country. Isles of Shoals Cruise If the open sea is your desire, join us for the Isles of Shoals cruise. Leave Portsmouth Harbor and discover the nine legendary islands located six miles off the coast. Strawbery Banke Museum, in the heart of historic downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire, is an authentic 10-acre outdoor history museum, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and dedicated to bringing 300+ years of American history to life. Strawbery Banke is a place to have fun learning about architecture, heritage plants and foodways, traditional crafts and the tools, clothing and collections families used for everyday life in this waterfront neighborhood, 1695 through 1954 when the site was saved from urban renewal. Explore heritage gardens, historic buildings and crafts, preservation programs, hands-on activities, the stories told by costumed role-players, traditional crafts and the changing exhibits that offer hours of fun and discovery.

The Isles of Shoals Steamship Company has been operating for over 25 years cruising the Piscataqua River and Isles of Shoals. We offer a variety of cruises to suit nearly everyone. Whether it be with family, friends, co-workers, students or hosting a special celebration, our crew looks forward to welcoming you aboard. Come cruise with us and take in the breathtaking NH seacoast. The M/V (motor vessel) Thomas Laighton was named for a famous “Shoaler”, politician and businessman. As keeper of the Isles of Shoals Lighthouse with his family on White Island, Thomas Laighton later founded the Appledore House Hotel. This began the resort era of the Isles of Shoals and NH seacoast in the mid 19th century. The M/V Thomas Laighton is a 90’ vessel with three decks which is certified to carry up to 340 passengers. There are two enclosed cabins and an open air sundeck. We carry up to 150 guests for a seated dinner and up to 275 guests for a cocktail style cruise. We limit sightseeing cruises to 275 guests as well for comfort. The Thomas Laighton features three full bars, one on each level. It is US Coast Guard certified and inspected and operated by licensed and experienced captains and a friendly crew. The vessel is handicap accessible.

The Music Hall is a performing arts center featuring curated entertainment from around the world in two theaters in its downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire campus - one, a landmark 1878 Victorian theater, designated an American Treasure for the Arts by the US Senate, the other the intimate Music Hall Loft around the corner, recently named “best performing arts venue” by Yankee Magazine and the recipient of the NH AIA award for design excellence. Acclaimed signature series bring top authors and artists to both stages, while HD broadcasts and independent film fill both screens. A radio show broadcast on NH Public Radio originates here. The Ledges Golf Club in York, Maine, offers you the finest public golf experience on the seacoast. In fact, north of Boston, this is definitely the first course you'll want to play. Rugged New England terrain frames an attention-grabbing par-72 layout where you may be distracted at times by the spectacular vistas and lush pine trees, the velvety green course conditions and the wildlife that you'll see everywhere. Architect William Bradley Booth designed The Ledges, and both the course and the designer won instant recognition after our opening. We like to say, in fact, that The Ledges put Brad Booth on the map in the golf world when we opened for play in 1999. That year, Golf Magazine named us the best new public golf course in New England. Since then, Golf Digest has awarded 4½ stars to The Ledges Golf Club.
