Why Choose Our Destination?

Fukuoka city, from the age of the Gold Seal 2000 years back, has developed as a gateway between Japan and other Asian continents. Today, both historically and geographically, it is developing as a key center for the exchange of Asia. Fukuoka has excellent access compared to many other cities. The airport is connected with major Asian cities by direct routes, and access to the downtown area is only 10 minutes by subway. Many of the convention facilities, such as the International Congress Center and the Marine Messe, are located close to downtown Tenjin and Hakata station, and the nightlife Nakasu district. There are also broad ranges of accommodation facilities, from internationally well known hotels to resort hotels, and to business hotels with economical rates. Other attractive aspects of Fukuoka are its traditional culture, such as the Dontaku Port Festival and the Hakata Gion Yamakasa Festival, the fresh seafood from the Genkai sea, the vibrant shops and the “yatai” street stalls, and the harmonious sight of the modern architecture in the inner city with the lush greenery in the suburb. The number of international conventions held in Fukuoka City is increasing each year. With the survey held by JNTO (Japan National Tourist Organization), Fukuoka ranked second place for the number of international conventions in 2014 domestically. This was the sixth year in raw that Fukuoka was ranked second after Tokyo. This proves that the city has the facility, knowledge and the support to hold a successful congress.
