About us

The Westin Galleria Houston & the Westin Oaks at the Galleria hotel complex recently completed a reinvention of all overnight accommodations, meeting and public spaces at both hotels (beginning in 2017 and ending in 2019). The Westin Galleria boasts 469 rooms and 70,000 square feet of event space, including the 12,400 square foot iconic Galleria Ballroom and 26,000 square foot Woodway Exhibit Hall which are conveniently located with a grand staircase connecting them for superb meeting space flow. Both hotels are located within The Galleria shopping, entertainment and dining center. Events of 800-1,200 can be completely self-contained within the complex, including pedestrian friendly after-conference options for your delegates. The refreshed, revived and reinvented centerpiece of the Galleria, our hotel is a legendary icon and a prestigious landmark in Houston. And while the Westin Galleria Houston is indeed rich in tradition – with its own unique, genuine character – the hotel has remained relevant thanks to the experienced staff, who take great pride in providing elevated service at this storied hotel.

The Hobby Center opened its doors in 2002, establishing a new era for the performing arts and cultural quality of life for Houstonians of all ages and backgrounds. The venue was purpose built with musical theater in mind, brining the best of Broadway right here to our own backyard. Our grounds were previously home to the Sam Houston Coliseum and Music Hall. Both built in 1937, the Music Hall played host to many theatrical, dance and music performances, while the Coliseum at one time was home to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, hosted the first National Women’s Conference in 1977 and saw music greats like Elvis Presley, James Brown, The Beatles, and Ike and Tina Turner on its stage. Even earlier than the Music Hall and the Coliseum was Sam Houston Hall, built in 64 days for $200,000 to host the 1928 Democratic National Convention, held June 26 -29. New York Gov. Alfred E. Smith received the party’s nomination, but was later defeated in the general election by Herbert Hoover.

Wortham Theater Center represents Houston's can-do spirit at its very best. Built at the height of the 1980s oil bust, Wortham Center was funded entirely by the private sector. More than 3,500 donors contributed $66 million to build a new performing arts mecca amid a period of job losses and recession. It was a true community effort -- 2,200 individuals gave $100 or less. Today, Wortham Center is home to Houston Ballet and Houston Grand Opera. Since its opening in 1987, Wortham has entertained audiences totaling more than 5 million people. It has also served as the backdrop for hundreds of social galas, civic meetings, corporate and group events, and even weddings, further underscoring its role as a community center as well as a performing arts venue. Host to many of the world's most accomplished entertainers, it is the place of memorable times, special people and important events. Within this splendid domain are an array of public spaces, both monumental and intimate: the jewel box-like theaters, the soaring six-story Grand Foyer, the delicately scaled Green Room and Founders Salon.
