Herbert Morrison Room

Lined with timber panelled walls, this heritage II listed room sets the scene for meetings and private dining. History: He fiercely opposed the setting up of the GLC to replace the LCC and by a sad irony, his death in March 1965, coincided with the birth of the Greater London Council. In his will he asked that his body be cremated and that his ashes be scattered into the high tide of London's River from the terrace of County Hall. His wishes were carried out just a few hours before the LCC’s final meeting.
