A notable resident of the building was Lord Harrowby, who hosted members of the British cabinet for weekly dinners. Famously, in 1815, one dinner was interrupted by Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Percy who delivered the news of Britain’s victory against Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo.
