Located right on the Prado-Recoletos- Castellana strip, this large gaming and general leisure centre has set up business. The modern and avant-garde building has been renovated by the architect Rafael de la Hoz. It is spread out over four floors, where you can find areas for playing games of chance along with other leisure and catering options. The main room is located on the top floor and houses an area with gaming tables, slot-machines and a café-bar called the “Bond Bar”. The ground floor houses another gaming area and the “Rhum&Rhum Bar”. The mezzanine is reserved for “Columbus” - the restaurant managed by the Sandoval family. Next to this restaurant, there is an after- work space - which aims to become a reference point for evening time in Madrid. The lower floor is for a private gaming room and offices for the use of the casino staff.

CaixaForum Madrid
Museum
10 mins
CaixaForum Madrid is a museum and cultural center in Paseo del Prado 36, Madrid. It is sponsored by La Caixa. It was constructed by the Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron from 2001 to 2007, which combined an old abandoned electrical station with new construction of floors encased with oxidized cast-iron, which was meant to be of a similar color and weight as the brick below. On the house next to it, there is a green wall designed by French botanist Patrick Blanc. The red of the top floors contrasts with the plants on the wall, which match the character of the neighbouring Real Jardín Botánico. Although the CaixaForum is a contemporary building, it also exhibits retrospectives of artists from earlier time periods and has evolved into one of the most visited museums in Madrid.

The Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection is one of the most important private collections of paintings of the 20th century and its history is a fascinating one. Although originally a private collection, today it belongs to the Spanish public after its acquisition by the government in 1993, just a year after the museum was opened. In 2004 a significant part of the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection was added to it; a collection of over two hundred works that add to the examples of artistic styles and genres of the permanent collection.

Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport is the main international airport serving Madrid in Spain. At 3,050 ha (7,500 acres) in area, it is the largest airport in Europe by physical size along with Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport.[6][7] In 2015, almost 47 million passengers used Madrid–Barajas, making it the country's largest and busiest airport, Southern Europe's busiest and Europe's sixth busiest. Located within the city limits of Madrid, it is just 9 km (6 mi) from the city's financial district and 13 km (8 mi) northeast of the Puerta del Sol, Madrid's historic centre. The airport name derives from the adjacent district of Barajas, which has its own metro station on the same rail line serving the airport. Barajas serves as the gateway to the Iberian peninsula from the rest of Europe and the world, and is a particularly key link between Europe and Latin America.

Puerta de Alcalá
Puerta de Alcalá
Historical landmark
20 mins
The Puerta de Alcalá is a Neo-classical monument in the Plaza de la Independencia in Madrid, Spain. It is regarded as the first modern post-roman triumphal arch built in Europe, older than the similar monuments Arc de Triomphe in Paris and Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. It was a gate of the former Walls of Philip IV. It stands near the city center and several meters away from the main entrance to the Parque del Buen Retiro. The square is bisected by Alcalá Street, although the street does not cross through the monument, and it is the origin of the Alfonso XII, Serrano and Olózaga streets. Its name originates from the old path from Madrid to the nearby town of Alcalá de Henares. Madrid in the late 18th century still looked like a somewhat drab borough, surrounded by medieval walls. Around the year 1774, king Charles III commissioned Francesco Sabatini to construct a monumental gate in the city wall through which an expanded road to the city of Alcalá was to pass, replacing an older, smaller, gate which stood nearby. It was inaugurated in 1778.

The Prado Museum is the main Spanish national art museum, located in central Madrid. It features one of the world's finest collections of European art, dating from the 12th century to the early 20th century, based on the former Spanish Royal Collection, and unquestionably the best single collection of Spanish art. Founded as a museum of paintings and sculpture in 1819, it also contains important collections of other types of works. El Prado is one of the most visited sites in the world, and is considered one of the greatest museums of art in the world. The numerous works by Francisco de Goya, the single most extensively represented artist, as well as by Diego Velázquez, El Greco, Titian, Peter Paul Rubens and Hieronymus Bosch are some of the highlights of the collection. The collection currently comprises around 7,600 paintings, 1,000 sculptures, 4,800 prints and 8,200 drawings, in addition to a large number of other works of art and historic documents. As of 2012, the Museum displayed about 1,300 works in the main buildings, while around 3,100 works were on temporary loan to various museums and official institutions. The remainder were in storage. The museum received 2.8 million visitors in 2012. It is one of the largest museums in Spain. The best-known work on display at the museum is Las Meninas by Velázquez. Velázquez and his keen eye and sensibility were also responsible for bringing much of the museum's fine collection of Italian masters to Spain, now the largest outside of Italy.
