De missie van de Atlanta Botanical Garden is het ontwikkelen en onderhouden van plantencollecties voor weergave, educatie, onderzoek, conservering en plezier. De tuin bevat verschillende landschappen met een verscheidenheid aan planten. Bij de ingang liggen formele tuinen, zoals de Japanse tuin en de rozentuin.
