Additional details
At Kimpton Hotel Monaco Philadelphia, the newly renovated guest rooms and corridors reflect the brand’s enduring love of contrast—where historic architecture meets thoughtful modern intervention. Drawing from Monaco’s playful yet polished spirit, the refreshed design layers classic forms with rich materiality, tailored furnishings, and moments of discovery that unfold throughout the stay. Philadelphia-inspired art and locally rooted content ground the experience in place, while touches of whimsy—like the peacock wallcovering in the bathrooms and the sculptural, playful form of the headboards—add personality without overpowering the design. In the corridors, a custom wallcovering featuring the mountain laurel flower introduces a locally meaningful motif, paired with a traditionally inspired patterned carpet that reinforces the sense of heritage. Together, the renovation elevates Monaco’s most intimate spaces into an experience that feels refined, expressive, and quietly memorable. An adaptive reuse of the 1907-original Lafayette Building, the Monaco stays true to its historic roots with carefully restored original wall treatments, moldings and millwork and pays homage to the past in a whimsical and oh-so-Kimpton manner. Local lore is celebrated in its wall installation of oversized calligraphy brushes behind the check-in desks – nodding to the hotel’s neighbor, Independence Hall, and the impactful power of the written word in the signing of the nation-shaping Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution – and the hallways of the guest room floors feature vintage, oversized photographs of the iconic Philadelphia Mummers. We are Kimpton’s second LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certified hotel.
