Bower Ponds

Bower Ponds is the heart of the Waskasoo Park system and a favourite location for people from throughout Central Alberta. This multi-season park offers almost two kilometres of paved trail around the interconnected ponds. Branching off from the ponds, paved trails lead to Great West Adventure Park (BMX) and Lions Campground to the north and Heritage Ranch to the south. Through the Waskasoo Park trail system, it is possible to connect with the entire city. Bower Ponds features a playground overlooking the Red Deer River, a natural amphitheatre and covered stage, and a serenity garden at the north end of the ponds. In winter, the ice surfaces are cleaned for skating and the toboggan hill also provides a snowy destination for many. Whatever the season, the ponds are a picturesque backdrop for festivals, special events, and outings with family and friends. Visitors to the park can access many amenities, including the Bower Ponds Pavilion, which has a concession and washrooms. At the pavilion, you can also rent skates in the winter, or kayaks and paddle boats in the warm seasons. Both the pavilion and the outdoor stage can also be rented through Facility and Park Bookings with The City of Red Deer. The Cronquist House brings beautiful, historical charm to Bower Ponds, and this 1911 Victorian farmhouse can also be booked for special functions.
