About us

A blend of historical charm and modern elegance, the new Kimpton Santo Hotel is part new build and part adaptive reuse. San Antonio's very first Kimpton takes its name from the city's patron saint, Saint Anthony, and stays true to the soulful essence and traditional architecture that have long characterized this romantic southwestern city. But in true Kimpton fashion, you'll find contemporary luxuries and bold design in the 347 rooms — think vintage craftmanship fused with modernist touches and Spanish-inspired décor. It's all set on a storied property that melds past and present with standout features like an 1858 schoolhouse turned high-end steakhouse, charming historic guest suites, an outdoor courtyard with century-old live oak trees, and an open-air rooftop bar that offers one of the best vistas in town.

King William Historic District

Recreation
5 blks
King William is a neighborhood that dates back to the mid-1800s when German immigrants started to move in and build homes. (They loved King Wilhelm I of Prussia, hence the name.) Now a Cultural Arts District recognized by the Texas Commission on the Arts, King William is the crown jewel of Southtown. Stroll by the beautiful homes, and even drop into one that's been converted into a museum. Villa Finale is an 1867 Italianate home that was lovingly restored by preservationist Walter Mathis, a ninth-generation Texan, and filled with his collection of fine and decorative art. The gardens are free to tour and are considered a classic example of Southern landscape design.

Southtown

Historical landmark
3 mins
Just south of Kimpton Santo San Antonio – Riverwalk is the coolest area in town: Southtown. Creative expression thrives here — you'll find art galleries, indie coffee shops, locally owned boutiques, and more microbreweries than anywhere else in the city. Plus, it's all in a pretty setting, with tree-lined streets, public art, and welcoming mixed-use spaces. Unsurprisingly, Southtown is home to both First Friday and Second Saturday, the city's longest-running art walks. The five neighborhoods that make up Southtown — Collins Garden, King William, Lavaca, Lone Star, and Roosevelt Park — each bring their own flavor to the area, and are all worth exploring.

San Antonio In a Box
San Antonio In a Box
Multi-city
Created in 2019 by Allison Craig, San Antonio in a Box was founded out of a deep love for supporting local businesses and connecting them with people looking to get a taste of SA! “We thought, ‘It would be great to help these small businesses get exposure [beyond San Antonio], and let people experience more than they would [just coming to] the River Walk,’” Craig said. Now they provide boxes to people visiting the city or ship all the way across the world. Allison hopes that it inspires people to experience the city in a whole new way and learn about vendors they might not have otherwise known about.

Kimpton Santo San Antonio Riverwalk Frequently Asked Questions

Explore frequently asked questions from the Kimpton Santo San Antonio Riverwalk regarding Health and Safety, Sustainability, and Diversity and Inclusion

Sustainable Practices

Please provide comments or a link to any publicly communicated Kimpton Santo San Antonio Riverwalk's sustainability or social impact goals/strategy.
San Antonio Water System (SAWS) and The City of San Antonio (COSA) announced the addition of Kimpton Santo to the SAWS District Cooling System (DCS), making it the first new chilled water customer since 2004. The growth in the customer base marks a major turning point for SAWS and the DCS, which was originally designed to serve Hemisfair 1968, and is now in the midst of a five-year capital improvement plan. DCS systems are an environmentally and economically efficient way to provide air conditioning from single source over a large area. In a DCS, water is cooled down to 42 degrees at a central plant and pumped to a campus of buildings through underground piping. This chilled water provides cooling by extracting heat from the building through the chilled water loop. The new Kimpton Santo joins current DCS customers such as the Grand Hyatt hotel, City of San Antonio Convention Center and event facilities, office buildings and other historical sites such as La Villita. The hotel, which is developed, owned and operated by White Lodging, is scheduled to open later this year. “SAWS’ District Cooling System is an underused asset that is helping reduce energy consumption, cut costs for businesses that take advantage of the service, and protect our environment,” said Mayor Ron Nirenberg. “I am excited that the Kimpton hotel has opted to use the system, and I encourage other eligible businesses to take a close look at this opportunity to boost their bottom line and strengthen our sustainability efforts.”
