The most precious and interesting collection of fine arts coming from the many Correale houses in Naples and Sorrento, collected in the “Villa alla Rota, by Alfredo and Pompeo Correale, counts of Terranova. The Correale Museum was opened in May 1924, and its spread over 24 rooms on four floors. The artifacts are divided into sections and then into chronological order. This museum has been defined “the most beautiful provincial museum of Italy” visiting these rooms the visitors are transported into a journey back in time,where paintings from 17th and 18th centuries attributed to Artemisia Gentileschi, Battistello, Caracciolo, Solimena, Van Dyck, Kassel and Belvedere.

The Museobottega of Tarsialignea preserves precious and valuable examples of the inlaid woodwork production of Sorrento and documents the culture and the landscape in which it was born and flourished.

Pompeii, Herculaneum, and nearby towns were probably first settled by Oscan-speaking descendants of the Neolithic inhabitants of Campania.
