Chuck Ghoorah

Co-founder, President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing

Chuck Ghoorah is Co-founder and President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing at Cvent. Chuck has been instrumental in building Cvent from a startup to a 4,800-person company. In his role, Chuck is responsible for global go-to-market strategy and execution.

With over 25 years’ experience in high growth SaaS software, Chuck oversees both marketing and sales at Cvent, and is responsible for the company’s top-line revenue across all product lines worldwide. Under his leadership, the Cvent marketing and sales teams have been recognized for their business impact, marketing excellence, and high-performance culture, winning numerous awards over the years including from the Institute for Excellence in Sales (Premier Sales Employer, Premier Women in Sales Employer, Entrepreneurial Sales Leader), Selling Power, Stevie Awards, and the BAMMIE Awards by Influitive, among others.

Although largely organically grown, Chuck has also helped ensure additional value creation for both shareholders and customers alike through Cvent’s mergers and acquisitions strategy, from small tuck-ins to larger technology platform extensions. Recognizing that acquisition is just the initial step, Chuck has been instrumental in integrating acquired companies’ people, processes, and products to blend seamlessly into the Cvent platform.

As Co-founder, Chuck helped guide Cvent through its early days in 1999 as a bootstrapped, self-funded operation; and has since led the company through a $17 million venture capital raise between 2000-2001; a $136 million growth equity investment in 2011; and an IPO on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: CVT) in 2013 with a market capitalization of more than $1 billion. In November 2016, Cvent went private with Vista Equity Partners for $1.65 billion. Since then, Cvent has continued to grow, helping its 22,000 customers around the world manage millions of events and delivering billions of dollars in meetings business to hotels and venues annually. In December 2021, Cvent returned to the public markets on the Nasdaq. In June 2023, Cvent was acquired for $4.6B, becoming a private company under Blackstone, one of the world’s largest private equity firms.

Chuck has spoken at over 100 conferences and trade shows; advised Fortune 500 companies and large associations on the business impact of strategic meetings management and event marketing; and built senior business relationships at the world's top hotel chains.

Prior to joining Cvent, Chuck was a corporate attorney at Hale & Dorr (now Wilmer Hale), an associate director at the Advisory Board Company (NASDAQ: ABCO), and a litigation attorney at Williams & Connolly.

Chuck earned his bachelor’s degree magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Duke University. He then earned his master's degree in political science from Duke University’s Graduate School and his Juris Doctorate with honors from Duke University School of Law.
