“Maintaining the Human Touch with Digital Innovations in Sleep Technology”

About this Course

Newer technology is beginning to transform how patients are diagnosed and treated for sleep disorders. Technology has already had a dramatic impact on the treatment of sleep disorders. Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) was invented in the 1980s, and revolutionized the treatment of snoring and sleep apnea. CPAP therapy evolved over the years, becoming quieter and easier to use. AutoCPAP is more widely prescribed, and devices are now networked through cloud-based systems that allow data collection as well as therapy adjustments. Home sleep testing, telemedicine, improved accessibility to education, advanced scoring and data collection systems are rapidly impacting the world of sleep technology. Artificial intelligence is transforming healthcare and sleep medicine to improve patient care. There are some dangers associated with some of the advancements in sleep technology. Sometimes the hype gets ahead of the science. a considerable need to improve the way sleep disorders are diagnosed and treated in modern Although there is society, in some ways, we have lost respect for the central place that sleep and sleep medicine should have in patient’s lives. As sleep technology evolves, the human touch must remain to preserve the foundation for helping patients improve their lives through improving their sleep. digital transformation of health care, particularly the diagnostic side continues to advance, and the full potential of analytics, machine learning, and other digital tools is not yet entirely understood or sufficiently valued.

The course will explore how the use of technology can have both a positive and negative impact on the human touch that patients seek. A review of the vision of our leaders, a discussion of opportunities that improve patient outcomes with a focus on methods to keep employees engaged are all an integral part of the discussions in this course.

“Sleep Medicine: A Discipline in Transition”

About the Conference

Sleep is increasingly impacted by the world of technology. As a business, the world of sleep medicine is booming. It is an exciting time of innovation with numerous products available that are designed to enhance sleep. There are apps, wearable technology like fitness trackers, smart beds and external monitors that make the bedroom part of the internet of things (IoT). Numerous devices meant to optimize the sleep environment through regulation of light, noise, temperature, and humidity are all a part of healthy sleep. New interventions that treat snoring, sleep apnea, circadian disorders, and insomnia are available. There is growth in telemedicine for the management of sleep disorders which will increase access to board-certified sleep physicians who will continue to have a central role in managing and treating sleep disorders. As the technology changes, artificial intelligence may have the ability to provide some helpful guidance in the management of sleep conditions like insomnia. This may make cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBTI) accessible in a new way. New insights on how sleep disorders are diagnosed, managed and treated continue to demonstrate that the future of sleep medicine will evolve through clinical research and comprehensive clinical practice.
