Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program! In connection with President's recent executive actions on the US immigration system, it is helpful to know how to deal with individuals who qualify for employment authorization under the government's Deferred Action for Childhood(DACA) program. While this is not a large group of people now, the DACA status is expected to expand sometime in the future under the President's new executive orders. Click this link DACAfor the current version of USCIS' Guidance for Employers that explains how employers should complete Form I-9 on newly hired employees who present employment authorization documents under the DACA status, and when to complete a new FormI-9 if the employee presents updated documentation regarding their DACA status. Further guidance is expected to be issued by USCIS once it implements a system for processing the increase in DACA applications and the new Deferred Action for Parents Program.
