Inclusive hiring: the solution
to a sustainable workforce
People from the various
differently enabled communities
provide organizations with
valuable perspectives on the
development of products and
services, marketing plans and
customer satisfaction. When
employers commit to hiring more
inclusively, it demonstrates we,
as a society, are open to
building a more progressive and
inclusive community.
Organizations such as Marina Bay
Sands (MBS) have benefitted from
embracing diversity and
inclusion at the core of their
hiring philosophy. Since
partnering local charity SPD in
2016 to establish its inclusive
hiring programme, MBS has
implemented assistive technology
and physical modifications to
support the hiring of persons
with disabilities.
It
has hired nearly 60 persons with
disabilities since 2010 to
support its 24/7 large-scale
operations and business needs.
Regardless of the size of your
organization, you can take steps
to adopt inclusive hiring
practices and tap another talent
pool. Government schemes and
initiatives such as job
placement/job support services,
the Open Door Programme and the
Enabling Employment Credit are
all available to you.
