We would not throw food away, so why would we waste freely available heat?

ReUseHeat chose to focus on four large scale demonstrators, showing the technical feasibility and economic viability of recovering and reusing excess heat from data centres, sewage collectors, a hospital cooling system and an underground station. This H2020 project aims to overcome both technical and non-technical barriers to unlocking of urban waste heat recovery investments across Europe.

ReUseHeat wins a Global District Energy Climate Award!

The winners of the 2019 Global District Energy Climate Awards were revealed on 24 October 2019, during the 1st Sustainable District Energy Conference in Reykjavik, Iceland. The finalists were selected from cities and communities across the globe which demonstrate local district energy leadership in providing clean and sustainable energy solutions. ReUseHeat excess heat recovery from the data centre in Braunschweig, Germany won the Award of Excellence in the category New scheme.

Asime SA is a company which belongs to Grupo Empresarial Electromédico - a pioneer in the maintenance of electromedical equipment and electrical safety in operating rooms. Formed by more than 600 professionals with a high technical qualification, Asime SA offers maintenance services for hospitals and general facilities. This experience qualifies them for the implementation of new technologies, such as the heat recovery pump, in large sanitary facilities of the Severo Ochoa University Hospital located in Leganés - Madrid, Spain.

Policy workshop: A joint exploration of the challenges to maximising waste heat recovery

On 5 March 2020, Euroheat & Power organised a workshop in Brussels to open a debate with policy makers, heat network operators, waste heat owners/producers and cities on how to make more out of waste heat. ReUseHeat contributed to the discussion on specific economic & financial challenges and put forward the proposal for a Credit Facility for Urban Waste Heat Recovery Projects.

Celsius Forerunner Groups helping cities implement solutions

To help cities overcome the obstacles faced in the implementation of heating and cooling solutions, the Celsius Initiative is establishing groups of forerunner cities that share the same type of challenges. Through collaboration and help from experts these groups will facilitate the transition to a sustainable energy system. ReUseHeat will support the Forerunner Group on Waste Heat Recuperation by sharing knowledge on contracts and business models.
