Examine concurrent disorders and substance use in youth with Leora Rich |
We are pleased to welcome Leora Rich, MSW, RSW, to our expert facilitator lineup. |
|
Leora is a clinical social worker in private practice. She has worked within different community mental health and hospital settings across the GTA and has supported many justice-involved youth.
In her previous role as clinical manager at East Metro Youth Services, Leora provided training nationally to interdisciplinary service providers on the subject of gender-based violence and human trafficking. She is passionate about working with youth who are experiencing challenges with their substance use. She is dedicated to increasing capacity for service providers to best support youth struggling with concurrent disorders.
|
Join Leora Rich on June 21 from 1 to 4 p.m. EST, as she presents her half-day training Concurrent disorders and youth populations: Understanding and supporting youth who use substances.
Through a trauma-informed, anti-racism and anti-colonial framework, this training will examine the following key areas:
|
|
- warning signs that youth are struggling with their mental health/substance use
- increasing capacity to engage youth in conversation about substance use
- overlapping individual and systemic factors that contribute to challenges with mental health and substance use
- maladaptive coping strategies and building skills to teach youth safer coping strategies
- the transtheoretical (stages of change) model
