In many cases the length of a mill outage is set by the time needed for recovery boiler cooling, washing, inspections and repairs. The cooling and washing methods can be optimized so that the total outage time is reduced. These include removing smelt while firing, monitoring bed cooling, washing superheaters first, and washing the floor with clean water.

With this service, the floor is washed simultaneously with the rest of the boiler using low pressure water sprays and mixing devices installed on the furnace floor. This decreases and possibly eliminates the need for mechanical cleaning and high pressure washing of the floor. As a result, this also significantly reduces the risk of floor tube damage.
