Fall 2012

Greetings and Happy Fall!

This is our first AdvancED Tennessee newsletter, and we are delighted to be working for you in Tennessee. We moved into a beautiful new office in the Nashville House at Suite C-205, One Vantage Way, Metrocenter, across from the Maxwell House Hotel.  We held an open house with over 100 attendees welcoming us to our new home. Thank you so much for the hospitality.

As we start this new school year, there are a lot of great changes on the horizon for implementing continuous improvement and accreditation in our state.  We’re excited about the new school year ahead and the new AdvancED Standards, Protocol and ASSIST™ enhancements available to schools and school systems.  We know that with these new resources and tools, you will make this the best school year ever!

In fact, we just finished our Fall Annual Worksession in Gatlinburg with over 200 attendees focused on how to engage in the new External Review process in addition to the sharing of effective practices for elementary, middle and high schools presented by Tennessee educators who have been successful in meeting their Annual Measurable Objectives (AMO’s) and Close the Gap performance targets.  These attendees were excited to learn about the new AdvancED Protocol and ready to make this their best school year ever.

The new AdvancED Standards, Protocol and ASSIST are the perfect trio of tools and resources to help guide you on that journey.  Just like our Fall Annual Worksession attendees, we hope you will take advantage of these tools today to accelerate your operational effectiveness for the ultimate benefit of your students.  We will continue to be here for you, and if we can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our office. Thank you for all you continue to do for Tennessee Schools and best wishes for a successful school year!

Sincerely,
Connie Smith, Jean Sharp, and Theilia Raines

New Accreditation Protocol Components Launched
As a reminder, AdvancED recently launched the new AdvancED Accreditation Protocol and new components for the AdvancED Adaptive System of School Improvement Support Tools (ASSIST). These tools and protocols, coupled with the AdvancED Accreditation Standards launched last fall, mark a new generation of accreditation and school improvement. The new AdvancED Protocol creates a stronger alignment between internal and external diagnostic review, stakeholder feedback, and student performance results. The result is a performance-based accreditation process that provides each institution with a comprehensive analysis to drive continuous improvement.

Additional components of ASSIST also have been released. In addition to the school improvement planner launched last fall, ASSIST now provides the tools to guide your next internal and external review for accreditation, including Surveys, Student Performance Diagnostic and Stakeholder Feedback Diagnostic tools.
We Need To Hear From You!
It is once again that time of year to go to the AdvancED website and update the demographic information for your school or school system. The demographics link for each school/school system is always available for updating as changes occur. We depend on you to make certain that your demographics are kept current on the AdvancED website.

To update your demographics, please go to www.advanc-ed.org. Login with your e-mail address and password. After logging in, select ASSIST. A series of headings will be at the top of the page. Click on Profile. Please review the information and update if necessary by selecting the Demographics Update application. If you have not logged into the website before or if you need assistance or have questions, please e-mail traines@advanc-ed.org, and she will be happy to assist you. Thank you for all you continue to do for your students.
