Miryam Brand Holocaust Education Film ProjectPresents "We Must Remember" Screening at Denver Area Schools October 17, 18 & 19Teacher Douglas Green returns to Denver with two students from Carlsbad High in California to speak about their experience in learning about the Holocaust through the film We Must Remember, and the impact it has made in the way they perceive language and relationships. Bus Tour of Jewish DenverSunday, October 21, 11am-3pmHit the road with the Mizel Museum! Join us on this behind the scenes tour of Jewish Denver as it was and as it is today. Your guide will be historical-raconteur-about-town, Phil Goodstein, author of North Side Story. The tour will highlight historical and contemporary institutions on the East Side, and then delve into the romantic core of the old West Colfax Jewish community. Claudia Schmidt has been perfecting her craft of performing for almost four decades. It is a quirky and wonderful hodge-podge (her word!) of music, poetry, story, laughter, drama, and celebrating the moment. Her career as a touring professional has found her traversing North American and European venues ranging from intimate clubs to huge festival stages. She has recorded fifteen albums of mostly original songs, exploring folk, blues, and jazz idioms and prose. Price: $18. Sunday, November 11, 1-6pmJoin us for this artsy day that celebrates the light of the winter season through visual art and music. Both masters of their art, photographer Zion Ozeri and contemporary Jewish musician Rabbi Joe Black will deliver a mixed media performance crafted especially for our program. Artist members of the Mizel Museum will exhibit their fine art, crafts and jewelry, all available for sale—just in time for the winter holidays! Candidates Forum 2012Wednesday, October 10, 6-9pmJewish Community Relations Council and the National Council of Jewish Women Colorado Section present Candidates Forum 2012 at Temple Sinai, 3509 S. Glencoe St., Denver. At 6pm meet candidates for state and federal offices and learn about ballot initiatives. The candidates forum for U.S. House of Representatives will be held at 7pm. Colorado Lawyers for the Arts (CoLA)CoLA, a non-profit organization headquartered in Denver, is a low-cost referral system for artists who are in need of services from volunteer lawyers. Jewish Meditation with Rabbi Stephen Booth NadavSunday, October 21, 4:30-6:30pmMeditation is the practice of making ordinary moments sacred, or finding the sacred in the ordinary. Join Rabbi Steve to develop the skills of Jewish mindfulness including meditation instruction, chanting, walking, Torah and text study. Drop-in class; donations accepted.
