July Highlights with Dean Prabhudev Konana

“I hope your summer is off to a great start! Many people think that summer is a time off in higher education, but we’re actually very busy here. We are planning exciting and innovative new initiatives for the Smith School, including a redesign of the undergraduate curriculum, including brand new minors in fintech, climate finance, sports management and analytics, and blockchain. We plan to take the general business minor online to make it available to more UMD students, and expand opportunities for business classes across the university." Read the Dean's letter.

Register today for the Maryland Smith Blockchain Business Imperative! This six-week synchronous online certificate program on blockchain technology and its potential economic impact across industries is designed to help leaders identify how blockchain technology can enable them to innovate and drive growth in their businesses. Topics include the conceptual underpinnings of blockchain; exploration of various blockchain business applications; and a discussion on potential opportunities and challenges stemming from blockchain.

Participants who complete the Blockchain Business Imperative will receive a UMD professional digital certificate and 3.3 continuing education credits, as well as a Credly digital badge.

Associate Dean, Undergraduate Programs Victor Mullins is bringing the Maryland Smith community together on Monday, July 25 from 6:30 - 8 pm in NYC at the Houndstooth Pub (8th Avenue 520, New York, NY 10018).

Newly admitted freshmen, current Smith students who are interning in the NYC area, and alumni who live in the city will gather to celebrate our new admits, network with each other, and develop new relationships. Light refreshments served + cash bar. Attire: Business Casual. Register today.
