STEM-OP

Survey To Expand and Maximize Opportunities in the Professoriate

This survey is part of the Association of Public & Land-grant Universities' (APLU) initiative, APLU INCLUDES: A Collective Approach to Diversifying the STEM Professoriate, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF).

This survey aims to collect comprehensive information regarding the evidence-based and promising programs and practices being use by institutions and other organizations to broaden participation within the STEM pathway towards academic and research careers. The valuable information you provide will expand public understanding of what evidence-based practices increase participation of underrepresented groups in STEM and how institutions of higher education can align efforts to maximize efforts for all students.

INCENTIVE: Each time an institution completes the STEM-OP (multiple submissions for different initiatives are encouraged), that institution will be automatically entered into a drawing to win one (1) priority registration to APLU's 2018 INCLUDES Summit and two (2) night's hotel accommodations for the summit.  The summit will take place on April 24-25, 2018, in Alexandria, VA. This prize package will be available for up to 20 institutions.

We are particularly interested in collecting information on programs that have, or are in the process of collecting, evidence of their impact on:

  1. the recruitment, enrollment, retention, and/or success of underrepresented groups in undergraduate and graduate STEM programs (including precollege programs that build interest in STEM research);
  2. students’ development of specific skills, competencies, and/or aspirations necessary for success in STEM academic or research careers; and
  3. organizational policies and practices that affect the recruitment, retention, and/or skill development of STEM students who aspire to research and/or academic careers.

You may rely on others to assist in the completion of this survey.
