_Alumni Spotlight Newsletter & Website (4)Jorge Richardson ’21 - Making the World a Better Place, One Sip at a Time

Jorge Richardson ’21 originally went to Maryland Smith to follow in his family footsteps, join a big investment bank and put in the years to climb up the ladder. During a summer at the World Bank, he was enamored at the Bank’s ability to catalyze massive sustainable development change through innovation & financing methods, piquing his interest in the climate space. Following a subsequent near-death earthquake in Indonesia and a meditation retreat in Nepal, he pivoted his career from banking to deploying technology that would make the world a better, more livable place.  2022 New ACB and YAC Members

Welcome to the newest Alumni Chapter Board and Young Alumni Council members!

The Robert H. Smith School of Business Alumni Chapter Board (ACB) is an advisory board to the Office of Alumni Relations which advocates on behalf of Smith School alumni. ACB members are ambassadors who promote the school to the greater alumni community and carry out the board's mission and strategic plan.

The Maryland Smith Young Alumni Council works to guide the development of young alumni programming in order to strengthen the connection between the school and young alumni. The council provides strategic direction on the transition from student to alumni and keeps new graduates engaged with the Smith School of Business by assisting in the development of focused events and programming to meet the needs of the young alumni population.

Smith Day Eheaders 2021LG_resize

On November 2, we will once again celebrate the annual Smith Day - a day celebrating the strong community of alumni, faculty, staff, and students. Members of the Smith Community will gather around the world to celebrate their pride in being Smith Terps.

We are looking for alumni to assist with organizing in-person or virtual gatherings (e.g., coffee or lunch meet-up, workplace gatherings, happy hour, etc.). If you are a member of the Smith School's alumni, student, faculty, or staff communities and you can help motivate your network of Smith Terps to share their Smith pride, consider volunteering to be a Smith Day Ambassador! The role is simple, flexible, and fun.

Last year, alumni at Booz Allen had an in-person breakfast event with the Dean, alumni at Marriott International hosted a virtual Trivia event, the Young Alumni Council held a Virtual Escape Room, and alumni in various cities hosted in-person happy hours. The possibilities are endless. Volunteer today to be a Smith Day Ambassador to help organize Smith Day celebrations in your town or at your employer.
