A Message from
Higher Things Conferences

Dear Group Leaders,

By now you have gotten plenty of information to plan out all the details of your trip. I hope it has been helpful! This last regular email will give you everything you need to know as you plan your arrival to the conference.

As a bonus, next week we’ll be sending out the tetramorph assignments for each conference so you’ll know which tetramorph you’ll be ahead of time and can pack accordingly!

Arrival and Check-in

Arrival instructions for each conference are listed below. Check-in is open from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm on Day 1 of the conference. Once your group has arrived on campus, the Group Leader (and only the Group Leader!) will come into the check-in area. Once there, you will speak with our Registrar, deal with any unpaid balances, get your group’s conference materials, receive directions to your dorms and parking, and various other things necessary to get you ready for the conference week. Remember, breakfast and lunch are on your own that day. The first meal provided at the conference will be supper that night.

If you are arriving the day before the conference begins, watch for an email from Cyndy Bishop, our Registrar, for arrival instructions the week before the conference.

Concordia University, Seward, NE

When you arrive on Monday, come to the Janzow Campus Center (800 N Columbia Ave, Seward, NE 68434). You may park in the lot to the east of Janzow and follow signs and College Volunteers to get you into the correct doors. You will be given instructions on where to park for the week when you arrive. See this map for context.

Concordia University, St. Paul, MN

When you arrive on Wednesday, come to the Pearson Commons in the Library Technology Center (1282 Concordia Ave, St Paul, MN 55104). Park in Lot B right off of Hamline Ave. N. You will be given instructions on where to park for the week once you arrive. See this map for context.

Concordia University, Chicago, IL

When you arrive on Wednesday, come to the Koehneke Community Center (7400 Augusta St., River Forest, IL 60305). You will park in the parking garage there on level 2A and above. Anything larger than a minivan must park outside of the garage in the lot directly adjacent to it. Watch for College Volunteers to direct you. You’ll come around the corner to enter the KCC. See this map for context.

Concordia University, Mequon, WI

When you arrive on Tuesday, come to the Buuck Field House. The address for CUW is 12800 N Lake Shore Dr, Mequon, WI 53097-2402. You’ll enter campus on the WEST side. Driving east on Highland Road, turn left onto N Lake Shore Drive and then turn Right into Parking Lot J. The group leader will go in to register and be given instructions on where to park for the rest of the week. For any group coming in a 15-passenger van or larger, you must park at the west end of lot J. See this map for context. CUW will have their dining room open for lunch if you would like to purchase lunch on campus that day.

Concordia University, Irvine, CA

When you arrive on Tuesday, come to the Chi Rho Suites. The address for CUI is 1530 Concordia, Irvine, CA 92612. Turn onto Concordia from Ridgeline Drive. After the security check, turn left onto Dorm Road and follow it back until you see signs and College Volunteers directing you to park. Anything larger than an SUV will need to park in the West Lot on the other side of campus and walk from there. Those vehicles will be too large to access Chi Rho via Dorm Road. See this map for context.

Frozen Groups

All groups have now been frozen. This means that you can access your group and pay online, but you can no longer make changes without going through our Registrar, Cyndy Bishop. If you have any cancellations, substitutions, or additions to make to your group, please email Cyndy (registrar@higherthings.org) and she will assist you.

We are now just a couple weeks away from the first conferences of the season. We are so excited to share in four days of phenomenal worship, edifying instruction, and crazy fun with you! Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions about anything I may or may not have covered in these emails. And remember, they are all archived online in case you missed something or want to look back. You can access them using the links below or by going to the conference website, concordia2019.org

See you at Concordia!

Blessings,

2019 Concordia Logo

“The Word of the Lord endures forever.”
(1 Peter 1:25)

“Concordia.” It literally means “with one heart” in Latin. The Church is unified around the confession of Jesus as our Lord and Savior like a congregation singing together in many different parts but singing the same song together in perfect harmony.

Concordia isn’t just a feeling that we are one. It’s not only something that we strive to have. We don’t sacrifice what we believe in order to be unified. True Concord is always centered around the confession of Christ and Him crucified!

God speaks. We receive His words into our ears. He gives our tongues the words to say to Him and to those around us. We repeat, together, His Words back to Him. We sing them, we confess them, all agreeing together, “with one heart and voice” our confession of Jesus!

In a world where youth are tempted to compromise, Higher Things is excited to plan our 2019 Conferences centered on the theme of the Church and Unity.

What have I missed?
