Thank you for all of your patience and kind words as we continue to move through this time of uncertainty. I have been in regular contact with each of our three remaining sites. The University of Tennessee decided to cancel all summer events on April 7, 2020. We are proceeding with our plan to bring you three on-site conferences in July and one virtual conference in August (included with your non-refundable deposit). With conferences still being more than seven weeks away, we still have time for things to settle down and for things to open up. I will continue to update you as I have been every Friday with the latest information and adjustments we are making.
We are moving forward with our usual conference plans and have important date reminders for you as conference time draws nearer. Please take note of the updates at the bottom of the email as some of the deadlines have again extended in response to the COVID-19 issue.
Travel Plans
As you begin to finalize your travel plans for the conference, please be sure to attend both the opening and closing Divine Services (2:00 pm on opening day and 1:00 pm on closing day)! Check in will be open from 9:00 am until 1:45 pm on opening day. Breakfast and lunch are on your own that day. There are plenty of restaurants close to each conference site. You will receive information on where to go when you arrive in a later Group Leader email. Please also plan to attend the first Leaders’ Meeting on that day, which will take place at 1:00 pm.
To help with your departure plans, the closing service will conclude on the final day at 2:30pm.
If you are arriving the day before the conference begins, our Registrar, Cyndy, will contact you the week before the conference with arrival details.
Anniversary Request
This summer is the 20th conference season for Higher Things! We started as a scrappy little conference in Wyoming in 2000 and have grown to this. To honor this anniversary, I’m looking for a few individuals or groups who were around in those early years to answer some questions. Were you there? Do you know someone who was? Important dates
May 15: Musician Auditions are due next Friday! Please also make sure all information is correct on registrations: t-shirt sizes, day before/after registration, choir selections.
June 1st: Higher Things for a Day registrations open.
June 5th: You now have until this date to cancel registrations and receive a refund of all monies paid except the $100 non-refundable deposit. Your non-refundable deposit is your registration fee for the Watermarked Virtual Conference August 6-7.
June 6th: You will be charged a change fee of $25 for any substitution made on or after this date. Also, you will not receive any refunds if you decide to cancel on or after this date.
June 15th: You now have until this date to turn in your national criminal and sexual predator background checks.
We will continue to monitor the situation and respond as necessary. As we move forward through this time, please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. I know that the information is constantly being updated and it’s hard to keep track of everything. But my team and I are ready to give you as clear answers as possible!
